Synthesis, Unity and the Logoic Experiment
Synthesis, Unity, and the Logoic Experiment
“All I can say is that synthesis is, whilst unity is achieved and is the reward of action and effort.”
Externalisation of the Hierarchy, p 535
What a sentence. It reveals an understanding derived from a realm of experience that goes far beyond what us brain inhabitants are most likely experiencing. Even so, its contemplation might bring us closer to that understanding. From the same section:

Synthesis and the Dilemma of Unity
Contemplating the distinction between synthesis and unity reveals the limitations brain consciousness faces. For one, time. Experiencing one thing after another engenders our linear sense of time. For another, form seems to be primary. Brain consciousness tends to regard form in action as cause, relegating consciousness and life to attributes of that action.
It might very well be that we incarnate into the limitations of a brain from a life in synthesis. In adjusting to brain life, our life in synthesis becomes overwhelmed by form, time, action, and separation. The reality of synthesis is lost in the actuality of a separated existence. We live, relate, and act, but lose that thread of living, relating, and acting in synthesis. Brain consciousness is entirely sure that its very identity is limited to its form and unrelated to anything other than its sensory environments.
Even in that limitation, synthesis is.
We cannot help but be touched by synthesis, always be in it. Sooner or later the note of synthesis is registered in some degree of peak experience, where everything seems to fit together in a grandness. As the interior life draws us within and the trance of form-life weakens, the clearer that note becomes.
Synthesis seems to be experienced without the limitation of our interpretations of time and appearances. The ever changing world of forms within forms exists in synthesis, though the parts as beginnings, middles, and ends seem to be experienced whole instead of one thing after another. Synthesis might also be experienced as the intrinsic, constant interrelation of life, consciousness, and appearance.
Once one experiences that note, it cannot be un-experienced, and one cannot help but compare it to what we experience through a brain: a world divided, dysfunctional, dissonant, loveless, pointless, and mean. It is obvious that the world needs to be put together, unified. It is here that one gets a glimpse of what might be involved in the realization that:
Unity must be achieved.
That can seem overwhelmingly difficult, given the state of the world. Some of the world seems to be trending towards unity, while most of it is not. Huge societal forces are not simply operating separately, but seem to be in intentional opposition to others. Generally, it seems that the various governments, religions, and economic systems oppose each other. These oppositions result in obvious, huge problems of ecologic disaster, social and economic insecurity, political stalemate, the challenge of information, the dimming prospects of food, water and shelter for all, etc. Their solution seems to lie from within a unity that seems forever out of our grasp.
From the table above:
· Unity seems to be a state of consciousness, not an appearance.
· Synthesis seems to be the spirit and life of unity.
· Unity might be the conscious relationship of synthesis and separation.
· Synthesis seems to be directed through unity and received through human action.
If unity is a state of consciousness, could we be looking for it in the wrong place? Could achieving unity seem so entirely difficult because we are seeking unity in the world of form rather than in consciousness?
In that light, how is unity achieved? It might start with realizing that the world of appearance is simply the outpicturing of the state and nature of the consciousness beholding it. The world one sees as dissonant, divided, and divisive is so because of the nature of the consciousness seeing it.
But how could that be? If one so highly values unity, while seeing disunity in the world, achieving unity becomes a matter of getting all those others to value it. Achieving unity seems to depend on others unifying with us. It is apparently true that others are not living from an achieved unity consciousness. Yet, can any of us, in all truth, say that we live in a consciously achieved, perfected unity consciousness? Even if we could say that, how would we get others to experience life from unity consciousness, given that consciousness cannot be conferred or imposed?
On becoming even slightly aware of it, unity consciousness expands into a participatory group consciousness. It is enlarged and enriched by intentionally including the limitations of one’s own unity, the areas where one does not perceive unity. Those limits are likely brought to one’s attention embodied as others: the divisive ones, the hateful ones, the serial killers, molesters, the racists, the psychopaths, the mindless, the heartless, the selfish, the greedy, and on and on. A shift might occur in realizing that these long held icons of disunity are indications of limits of unity within one’s own consciousness. The achievement of unity no longer lies out there somewhere; it lies within one’s own consciousness. It becomes a matter of unifying with whoever or whatever appears un-unified. Thus, the difficult work of achieving unity.
It is up to each of us to do so, because each of us have sovereignty over our own consciousness. It might be that in asking the non-unified to become unified, one is avoiding the real work of achieving unity consciousness. Also, who would be more likely to put forth the needed effort, those attracted to even the prospect of unity consciousness or others who are not yet attracted?
Taking the first step in that direction reveals the dilemma of unity: Part of the world seems wrong. Do we want to unify with those who are completely identified as what seems to be wrong with the world? Does unifying with the un-unified give some legitimacy to being un-unified? Would unifying with child molesters be tantamount to condoning molesting children? Would unifying with those committing genocide be conferring legitimacy to genocide? All of us have evolved past identifying as certain patterns of un-unified living, and it is normal to be repulsed by those patterns. Upon honest assessment, most likely one would be repulsed by those who still live as and even flaunt those patterns. This is especially the case when the identity and the pattern are so entirely the same.
How, then, do we achieve unity without approving of or energizing what is wrong with the world? The table above infers that synthesis is lived from the vantage point of Shamballa. While brain consciousness can make that vantage point seem far away, it is, after all, that in which we live and move and have our being. It is anything but distant, but its ways can seem mysterious. Considering some of what has been shared with us about Shamballa and the Logos might help us better understand the nature of synthesis and help resolve the dilemma of unity.
The Logoic Experiment
· Our Planetary Logos is involved in an experiment that attempts to ensoul the substance of this planet with the qualities of the Second Divine Aspect, by taking incarnation deeply in and as substantial forms and bodies. This substance was inherited from the previous solar system, as its dregs, being intelligent but resistant, maybe even antagonistic to requalification.
· The experiment involves manifesting all the centers. So far, the base of the spine manifests as the mineral kingdom; the sacral center as the plant kingdom; the solar plexus as the animal kingdom; and the throat center as the human kingdom. The ajna center is partially manifesting as the New Group of World Servers. The heart center is in process of manifesting as the Kingdom of Souls. Later, Shamballa will manifest. Other Logoi in our system do not manifest this extensively in matter this dense, and the promise of this attempt is receiving solar and cosmic attention.
· In the human experience, incarnating more deeply into matter is achieved at the price of losing awareness of identity and consciousness on other planes. Identity is limited to and qualified by the substance of the incarnation. The rationale of this is perhaps that losing all identity other than that of substance results in a more intimate, engaged, but also imprisoning relationship. Thus the qualities of early incarnations are limited to those of the substance before any requalification.
· Through repeated incarnations occurring simultaneously with the evolution of the consciousness of the incarnating soul, contact with identity and consciousness on other planes is gradually restored. As this relationship evolves, the substance of each incarnation begins to be requalified. This process is sure, but progress is slow.
· The incarnating soul begins to free itself from forms and patterns that have kept the identification imprisoned. Evolution is evidenced by how free, how separated, one is from these forms.
· As part of the Logoic experiment, the previous incarnate identifications are stored in the subconsciousness of each incarnation. These early identifications provide access to those patterns and states of substance that received very little requalification. They are stored awaiting an incarnation identified as soul to be able to access them and pursue their requalification.
· Eventually the incarnating soul discovers these identifications through recognizing that to a greater or lesser extent, qualities identified with in these previous incarnations manifest in the present life. They present as automatic and sometimes surprising reactions that come from what seems to have been left far behind.
· Troubled by the appearance of these qualities, the incarnating soul might be attracted to the study and practice of transformation, transmutation, and transfiguration.
· Here, however, a problem presents itself. The incarnating consciousness regards these reactions as inappropriate, and refuses to be associated with them, considering it wise to avoid or to rise above them. This is apparently the correct motion as far as one’s evolution is concerned, but it can result in missing or delaying an opportunity to more fully contribute to the Logoic experiment through requalifying the early identifications.
· In contemplating that motion, one might consider the question: are humans evolving in order to move away from the substance not yet requalified, or are they evolving while in incarnation in order to extend the influence of the Second Aspect further into substance? If it is the latter, the Logoic experiment becomes the central purpose, and individual evolution becomes an agency of that purpose.
· To aid this expansion of purpose, the Logos seems to be making the reality of synthesis more recognizable, attractive, and engaging. Foreseeing the cycle of the incarnation of the Seventh Ray along with the age of Aquarius, the Logos invoked the aid of the Avatar of Synthesis.
· In the incarnation of the Seventh Ray we might find the spirit of synthesis more readily able to engage substance from within substance. We might find the purpose of incarnation is brought to life through recognition of the nature of the Logic experiment. Perhaps recognizing that synthesis is, leads to enriching the relationship of synthesis and substance in such a way that could be recognized as unity consciousness. Unity consciousness flourishes in Aquarius, and is able to engage the group nature of humanity within its various points of evolution.
Resolving the Dilemma of Unity
In that light, one might find that synthesis helps us achieve unity with those souls who seem to be standing in the way of unity. Regardless of how deeply identified with unredeemed qualities someone might appear, one can know that because synthesis is, they are in a stage of the redemptive relationship with the substance of their incarnations. It does not seem so because we cannot yet see with Shamballic eyes. But, via an attempt to reach through time, one can know that they are, as we all are, participants in the Logoic experiment. At this point in time, they are unaware of it, but one can be aware of it on their behalf, just as others have been aware on our behalf. That awareness subjectively helps each of us to come closer to unity, and in coming closer, help others.
It is possible to regard giving up one’s identity to these unredeemed patterns is in a sense the sacrificial act necessary to the Logoic experiment. Their appearances in the world look wrong, but in a way, that is the point. Giving these unqualified patterns recognizable appearances (even if they are sometimes intimidating or disappointing), allows the soul nature of humanity to begin to recognize them for what they are: un-loving, un-wise, un-true, un-(w)holy, un-evolutionary. The need for their redemption becomes obvious.
Many times an individualized soul involved in such sacrifice, through repeated karmic experiences, will awaken enough to recognize a pattern for what it is. Many times that soul will awaken to the distinction between the self and the pattern of manifestation, and will struggle to free their identity from the pattern. Gaining freedom allows that soul to consciously requalify the pattern (and the substance it is made from) with Love. Many times that soul will put Love into action in a reformation of that pattern, including the relationships adversely affected by that identification.
In that process, the individualized soul is able to recognize others involved with and struggling with the same pattern. Through Love, that soul is able to reach out to and distribute to those others, through the heart, the power of inclusivity that helps others win freedom from that pattern. It is possible for that soul to realize that this is by its very nature a group process. Many have sacrificed their identity to that pattern, and in the process of doing so have strengthened that pattern. As a group they stand together on the threshold of Love. Standing there, they realize that the threshold is no longer simply the avenue of escape as they might have earlier hoped and prayed for. They now find it as an opening for Love to live its way into the world of these patterns of substance. They realize that it will take the whole group together to be released from and repurpose, requalify, and remake the patterns with which they have been so involved.
The many Anonymous groups work in this inclusive way (Alcoholics, Narcotics, Debtors, Gamblers, Food, etc.) Each of those freeing themselves from the pattern sooner or later realize a kindred spirit with all others who have been, are being, or will become identified as that specific pattern. The root of that kinship lies in their common experience of being imprisoned in a pattern, and in achieving freedom from it, and forming a new relationship with it as well as the others they affected by their experience.
It seems like it takes that same spirit of kindredness to achieve unity consciousness. It is not unusual to be troubled by a living example of non-unity in the outer life, usually a person or group who embodies or even exalts disunity and divisiveness. It is possible to register being troubled as a sign that there is a similar, unresolved identification in the subconscious life seeking one’s own awareness. Recognizing that one has (or has had) such an identification is generally difficult because of the mental distance we exert between that pattern and our present identity. An aid to closing that distance is recognizing the previous identifications stored in the subconscious. It does not seem to be at all important to recall or reexperience the specifics of each identification. However, considering the whole of those incarnations allows one to recognize one’s own relationship with that troubling pattern. Aligning with and within them, one can get a sense of having been identified (or is still identified to some extent) with a similar, if not a more refined version of the same troubling pattern.
Finding the sense of such an identification helps establish kinship with the soul identifying as that troubling pattern. Exerting kinship vitalizes the achievement of unity within one’s own consciousness, requiring nothing from others. In fact it is done on behalf of others, providing them with a subjective framework they can find and use in their approach to unity.
Perhaps just as importantly, extending one’s own awareness into these subconscious, previous identifications, brings the light of understanding into one’s own nature, enlarging and enriching our humanity. This living kinship with one’s identifications naturally radiates into the inclusion of all human identified selves, thus providing access for the further incarnation of the Second Aspect.
World Problems?
Even so, how could a single human entering unity consciousness solve our huge world-sized problems?
For one, it could give a fresh perspective on those problems. If unity is the consciousness that relates the reality we refer to as synthesis with the actuality of the substance inherited from the previous solar system, the nature of the problems shifts. They are no longer only problems that seem to interfere with human life or impede human evolution, they become the central issue of the Logoic experiment. These problems are all too obvious because the spirit and soul of humanity chose to incarnate as the substance so desperately in need of qualification. In this sense, world problems become unqualified substance living out loud.
For another, the group nature of unity is perhaps the factor that can have the intended effect on patterns the whole of humanity made and reinforced through repeated incarnations in ignorance. Group consciousness moves the solutions from the realm of the individual to that of the group, removing much of the hopelessness we feel as individuals facing those problems. In one sense, the problems we deemed as individual can be re-deemed as the opportunity for the group to requalify substance as part of the Logoic experiment.
In a very real sense, achieving unity consciousness while in the brain, is part of the incarnation of the Second Aspect, and is a gift that only humanity can give to the Logos who initiated this experiment.
